Dental Implant X-rays

I often get questions as to what implants look like.  Here are a few examples:

  1. I am 3 mo post implant being placed for #11 tooth extracted due to external resorption. I just had my torque test and my periodontist told me my implant is perfect and I’m scheduled for an impression to order the tooth. However, there is a big black gap (like an umbrella shape) at the tip of the implant and spreads to each side. The site was all gray/full in the xray at the time the implant was placed – like your examples here. I experienced a lot of inflammation at the site after the torque test. I was reassured the implant is not infected. My face and roof of my mouth is still throbbing (48 hours later) in spite of taking ibuprofen. Would you advise to pause implant treatment and have an endodontist evaluate neighboring teeth?
